"Would you please pass the jelly!"
You've probably heard that commercial advertising a jar of jelly. At one of my family dinners, the phrase might have been: "Would you please pass the liver dumplings?"
Hearing that jelly ad again this past week, I immediately thought of food. Not a hard thing for me to do as evidenced by my expanding beltline. But hearing the ad got me to thinking of how family food traditions bind us together.
Going into late fall and winter, the thought of warm meals served by my family and my relatives simmer inside my head.
There are other noted favorites as well. Each cook in my history had a special that he or she brought to special occasions, birthday parties, wedding receptions, potlucks and other places where the family met.
