SAN JOSE — The San Jose High football team couldn’t have asked for a better start.

The Bulldogs recovered an onside kick to begin the game. Then on the first play from scrimmage Cypress Funes hit Omar Gomez with a 56-yard bomb for a touchdown.

Boom. But San Jose would pass only one more time all game.

When the Bulldogs went to the double wing is when the game turned decisively in their favor.

In a startling exhibition of totally dominant power football, San Jose ran the ball 52 times for 350 yards in a 46-9 win over a Prospect team that went into the game unbeaten and in first place in the Blossom Valley Athletic League’s West Valley Division.

With the win, San Jose (5-3, 4-1) has a chance to make history. For years the Bulldogs would play Lincoln in the Big Bone game on Thanksgiving,
