Penguins defenseman Caleb Jones will be sidelined for approximately two months.
The Penguins announced Saturday that Jones has been placed on injured reserve due to the lower-body injury he suffered in Thursday’s win over the Florida Panthers.
In the third period of that game, Jones chased a loose puck into the corner behind the Pittsburgh net, with Florida winger Brad Marchand in close pursuit after him. Jones lost his footing, perhaps with a little help from Marchand, and Jones slid into the boards. The 28-year-old defenseman appeared to injure his left leg on the play.
Jones eventually limped to the locker room and did not return in the 5-3 victory.
