The St. John’s Women’s International Film Festival wraps up this evening with a closing party at the Ship Pub.
The festival opened earlier this week with a red-carpet gala Tuesday night.
Filmmaker Vicki Murphy, whose short film “Women Made” explores the story of Nonia or the Newfoundland Outport Nursing and Industrial Association, says she’s grateful for the exposure given to filmmakers through the event.
“It is the heart and soul of St. John’s,” she tells VOCM News.
“Such a wonderful draw for people to come to St. John’s and see not only the film festival but also the beauty of our city and we have something really, really special here. Everybody who comes here says the same thing (about the festival), ‘what an amazing experience’ that they just don’t get anywhere else.”
