LSI Inc., of Alpena, South Dakota, recalled about 2.3 million pounds of its Golden Island Korean Barbecue recipe fire-grilled pork jerky for possible contamination with metal pieces, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced Oct. 24.

The company issued the recall after getting complaints from consumers who found pieces of wiry metal in the pork jerky product, the FSIS said . The metal origingated from the conveyor belt used in production, LSI told the agency.

To date, there have been no confirmed reports of injury due to consumption of this product, the FSIS said. Anyone concerned about an injury should contact a healthcare provider, the agency said.
