CLEVELAND, Ohio - Unionized Starbucks baristas in Ohio have scheduled rallies and picketing outside key locations as strike authorization voting begins nationwide, Starbucks Workers United (SWU) said in a news release.
The actions in Ohio come amid a national wave of 70 pickets in 60 cities, as SWU escalates demands and prepares for potential strikes should the coffee giant fail to negotiate in good faith. Baristas in Ontario, Bowling Green, Cleveland and Worthington are scheduled to hold rallies and pickets through early November.
The Cleveland rally is scheduled for 1 p.m. Nov. 1 at 1302 Euclid Ave.
According to the news release, the union campaign follows a surge in organizing that now covers more than 12,000 Starbucks partners in more than 650 stores across 45 states and Washington,
