North Carolina Tar Heels 16 F/OT
Chapel Hill, N.C. — North Carolina, for the second straight game, came oh-so-close to earning its first ACC victory under head coach Bill Belichick.
The Tar Heels fell 17-16 in overtime to No. 16 Virginia on Saturday at Kenan Stadium. UNC went for a two-point coversion to win the game, but running back Benjamin Hall was stopped just short of the goal line after catching a pass.
The game was tied 10-10 at the half and neither team scored in the second half.
North Carolina is 2-5 overall and 0-3 in the ACC. UNC has lost four straight games.
Virginia improved to 7-1, 3-0 in the ACC. Virginia lost to ACC foe NC State, but that game was scheduled as a nonconference matchup and doesn't count in the leag
