Shreyas Iyer’s brilliant partnership-breaking catch against Australia in Sydney on Saturday came at a painful cost, leaving the batter clutching his ribs in visible discomfort.

The incident unfolded on the third ball of the 34th over when Harshit Rana bowled a good-length delivery outside off. Alex Carey mistimed a leg-side heave, sending the ball high over backward point.

Shreyas sprinted back from the infield, eyes fixed on the ball, and pulled off a stunning catch by stretching his body fully and trapping the ball against his chest.
