EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH, La. (WAFB) - The Greater Baton Rouge State Fair will not open on Saturday, October 25, because of weather conditions.

Officials with the fair said they’ve determined the area is too wet to welcome visitors. An updated schedule is expected to be provided on Sunday.

An announcement earlier Saturday morning said the opening to the fair would be delayed only, but new plans for the event to remain shut down were revealed later in the day.

Livestock shows at the fair continued as scheduled.
