(WLNS) – The Michigan State Spartans delivered a shutout performance against the Northern Michigan Wildcats in a 4-0 win. Additionally, Michigan split with Western Michigan in a top-5 contest.
MSU shut out Northern Michigan Friday night in a 4-0 win. Despite six chances, the Wildcats didn’t score once on the power play. Trey Augustine, a Red Wings prospect, made 24 saves. Augustine moved into seventh place all-time for career shutouts at MSU, the university said. MSU is ranked No. 1 in the USCHO poll.
"Northern made it really hard on us, especially in the first period," said MSU head coach Adam Nightingale after the game. "We got to our game in the second and I thought our penalty kill did a heck of a job. Trey (Augustine) made some saves when we needed him to make some saves."
