Atlanta — The seventh-ranked team in the country spent 15 minutes providing Syracuse all the chances traditionally needed to pull off an upset.

The Orange was too outmanned to take advantage.

Syracuse failed to score a touchdown after reaching the 1-yard line on its opening drive against Georgia Tech. It managed to put little pressure on the Yellow Jackets afterward, losing 41-16 at Bobby Dodd Stadium on Saturday.

The Orange (3-5, 1-4 ACC) lost decisively despite the fact that its opponent fumbled on its opening drive, dropped a wide-open touchdown pass on its second and saw its ballyhooed (and otherwise excellent) quarterback Haynes King badly overthrow a wide-open receiver on its third.
