WEST LAFAYETTE — After turnovers undercut Purdue football ’s progress in recent weeks, the Boilermakers went over 39 minutes Saturday without giving the ball away.

That final snap proved decisive. Rutgers stripped the ball away from Ryan Browne , recovered in prime field goal position and turned the game over to Jai Patel for a 30-yard game-winner as time expired.
