NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) - There's a Marine Warning in effect until 5:15 p.m. for the coastal waters from Port Fourchon through the lower Atchafalaya River in Louisiana.
The National Weather Service says that "a cluster of severe thunderstorms capable of producing waterspouts was located near Isle Derniers around 3:45 p.m." and its continuing to move eastward at 20-knots (or about 23-mph).
The potential hazards here include a possible waterspout, damaging wind gusts up to 34-knots (or about 40-mph), high waves, dangerous lightning and large hail.
It's recommended that at this time boaters seek safe harbor immediately until the storms pass as a potential waterspout could quickly form and damage or capsize boats.
