WEST VALLEY CITY — A man is dead after police say he shot into a crowd of people in West Valley City early Saturday morning, and someone in the crowd fired back.
At approximately 12:40 a.m., police responded to reports of a shooting in the 4700 block of Palmer Drive, where a Halloween party attended by teenagers and young adults was being held, according to a statement from the West Valley City Police Department.
The statement says Allen Montelongo, 18, of Salt Lake City, was driving by the party and fired at a group standing in the roadway. A 16-year-old male from Sandy was hit multiple times by the gunfire, according to police.
Someone in the group returned fire, police said, hitting Montelongo and causing him to crash his car into a fence. He
