RUSK COUNTY, Texas — A Rusk County man was sentenced this week to life in prison without the possibility of parole after a jury found him guilty of continuous sexual abuse of children.

Daniel Alton Flanagan, 52, of the Brachfield community was arrested in February at his home after a victim came forward and reported abuse to the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office. He remained in custody throughout the nearly eight months leading up to his trial and faced multiple felony charges including continuous sexual assault of a child younger than 14, prohibited sexual conduct with an ancestor/descendent, and sexual performance by a child younger than 14.
