CANTON — It was McKinley’s home game Saturday, but would Massillon keep owning " The Game "?

The big boards at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium went the whole day showing images of a 30-foot cartoon Tiger and a 30-foot cartoon Bulldog putting up their dukes. “The War of 1894,” the message said.

After a few hours, the scoreboard displayed the final word: Massillon 21, McKinley 14 .

The Bulldogs wanted to party like it was 1994 , or thereabouts.

McKinley’s record against Massillon in the 1990s was 8-3, with bigger fish to fry in 1997 and 1998, when the Pups won big-school state championship games played, with theatrical affect, against Cincinnati powers, in Massillon.
