TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - The Tucson Police Department identified 40-year-old Joshua Vincent Lee Poe as a suspect in an August shooting, after detaining him for a different murder two months later.
Tucson Police responded to reports of a shooting on Saturday, August 23, near the 900 block of South Warren Avenue.
Officers were directed east to a wash, where 56-year-old Matthew Erik Simmerman was found with severe gunshot trauma.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The TPD say evidence suggests Simmerman had been living in the wash with a female companion when Poe approached him on foot and shot him.
Poe was arrested nearly two months later, on Tuesday, October 21, for the separate murder of 25-year-old Alec Richard Newling two days prior .
