BEMIDJI — It was beyond fitting for the Bemidji State men’s hockey team to go on the penalty kill with 119 seconds left on the clock.
Holding a 3-2 lead against Augustana, with a chance at their first league sweep this season, the Beavers were already perfect on the weekend in deploying their PK units. They killed off three power plays successfully on Friday night in a 1-0 overtime win. They killed off another in the first period on Saturday night at the Sanford Center.
However, sophomore forward and regular penalty killer Jaksen Panzer was called for a hooking infraction with 1:59 left on the clock. Augustana took its timeout, only to return with goaltender Josh Kotai subbed out for a sixth skater.
Bemidji State lost the opening draw, but eventually cleared the puck to earn a line chan
