BEMIDJI — The Minnesota Twins used to show a graphic on a Metrodome scoreboard that read “walks will haunt” anytime opposing pitchers would commit a free pass to a batter.

The football equivalent for the Bemidji High School football team would have to be “penalties will haunt.” Discipline has been a problem for the Lumberjacks this year, especially after ill-timed infractions cost them games earlier in the season.

However, Saturday night was a different story, as the Jacks overcame a dozen penalties in their 34-0 shutout of Sartell in the Section 8-5A Tournament semifinal at Chet Anderson Stadium. They will move on and travel to Alexandria to face the top-seeded Cardinals in the Section 8-5A final at 7 p.m. on Friday, Halloween night.
