Pune, 26 October 2025 – Maharashtra is witnessing an unexpected spell of rain even after the official withdrawal of the southwest monsoon. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert across several districts, warning of light to moderate rain and thunderstorms over the next few days.

According to the IMD, a depression over the Arabian Sea is moving slowly along the west coast, bringing moisture inland and triggering widespread rainfall. At the same time, a strong weather system in the Bay of Bengal is intensifying and is likely to turn into a cyclonic storm named Montha by October 27 morning.
