TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Saturday was a big day for several high school volleyball teams in the state of Florida, as they looked to go from “sweet” to “elite.”

Regional semifinals, or the Sweet Sixteen, hit the court across the Big Bend, with the winners advancing to the Regional Finals, the Elite Eight.

In the state’s Rural division, last year’s state champion Liberty County swept Franklin County, setting up a date with Blountstown in the Regional Finals Tuesday. The Tigers swept Sneads.

Branford finished state runner-up last year in the Rural division. They swept Aucilla Christian to seal up their spot in the Elite Eight, where they will face Union County, who beat Lafayette in straight sets.
