A Plymouth woman braved the shave for a cause close to her heart. Danni Grigg's long flowing locks, which had taken years to grow, disappeared in about 15 minutes - and the clippers were wielded by her firefighter partner.

The National Grid Electricity Distribution team manager had her head shaved to raise money for the Fire Fighters Charity, particularly its work supporting mental health.

Her colleagues looked on as her partner Jason Bennellick, a firefighter for Devon and Somerset Fire & Rescue Service, arrived at her office for the extra special call-out.

She said: “It feels so cold! But my team mates have been very supportive. I’ve been told a few times that I have a nice shaped head, which makes me smile as I’ve never been complimented on my head shape before!”
