Plans to improve safety along one of Plymouth’s busiest roads could be brought forward after 17 pedestrians were injured in collisions over four years.

Mutley Plain is among the worst areas in Devon and Cornwall for pedestrian casualties, with 16 crashes recorded between January 2020 and December 2024. More than half took place at the junction near Chester Place and Alexandra Road.
A petition launched by MP Luke Pollard and backed by local councillors has been submitted to Plymouth City Council , calling for a controlled crossing at the site.
