New Delhi, Oct 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised the Chhath Puja festival as a “beautiful example” of India’s social unity, praising the four-day festival of faith and devotion.

The festival, dedicated to the Sun god, celebrates the harmony between nature and humanity, embodying purity, gratitude, and discipline. On Sunday, people celebrate the second day, known as ‘Kharna’, where devotees fast from sunrise to sunset, refraining from both food and water.

PM Modi drew a parallel between the Chhath Puja and the “deep unity” within society, stating that people from every section of society stand together at the Chhath Ghats. Mass gatherings are expected across various bathing ghats across the country, where thousands of devotees participate in the rituals with unwavering faith.
