TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) -- One week ago, Arizona State was the toast of college football, having just taken down previously unbeaten Texas Tech.

A week later, the vibes are quite different.

“It sucks,” said ASU wide receiver Malik McClain.

The 24th-ranked Sun Devils stumbled and bumbled through most of the game, entering the fourth quarter down 24-0. A furious rally closed the gap to 24-16, but a last-ditch drive to try and force overtime was stopped, snapping a 10-game home winning streak.

“The facts are we lost the turnover battle, we had too many penalties, we lost field position, we couldn’t stop the plus-one run game,” said ASU head coach Kenny Dillingham.
