Why the surprise? Why the hand-wringing? Why the very real concern that America is losing its grip on democracy? Why now?

This is what we voted for.

In the United States of America, the people make the decisions about who will lead us and what kind of government we will have. And in 2024, the voters went to the polls and decided those two questions.

I raise this simple fact because it is getting quite tiresome to hear from so many people that what is happening to us in our own country is not what they voted for. To that I call B.S.

I don’t care if you voted for President Donald Trump or his opponent or didn’t vote at all. The result of the elections last year is that Trump is the president, complete with all the gold and other monarchical trappings of high office that are more at home
