Let's make this perfectly clear: Nobody made Gov. Jeff Landry and the Louisiana Legislature change the dates of next year's congressional elections so they could remake congressional districts that they approved in January 2024 .
Nobody.
Unless it's someone in Washington, D.C., who likes to demean people, call people names and make people jump through his hoops.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott was the first to jump as high as President Donald Trump wanted him to jump, working with his GOP state legislature to push through to gain five more congressional seats ahead of the 2026 congressional elections. The districts were signed into law by Abbott. Because the changes would mean loss of Black and Latino representation in Congress, some groups are challenging the maps as designed.
