Top-seeded Scotch Plains-Fanwood, No. 12 in the NJ.com Top 20, defeated fourth-seeded Elizabeth 2-1 in the semifinal round of the Union County Tournament at Johnson High School in Clark behind two goals from Jayvon Young.
Following a scoreless first half, Young netted two goals to secure the victory. Elizabeth managed to score once but couldn’t find the equalizer.
Scotch Plains-Fanwood (13-2-2) will host Gov. Livingston on Tuesday at 4 p.m. Elizabeth (12-4) will face New Providence on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
