Three incoming city councillors who were elected under the Better Edmonton banner say they are not sure what will happen to the party after the majority of the slate, including mayoral candidate Tim Cartmell , did not win their races.

During the election, Cartmell said the party would “go dormant” once the vote was done.

“It will have no effect at all on the council table,” said Cartmell on Sept. 19. “We’re not whipping votes, there is no cabinet, there is no caucus, those things are still against the Municipal Government Act, and we will absolutely respect that. So this is really just an election thing, not a council thing.”
