WASHINGTON — DC Health is tackling food insecurity for its most impacted communities with a first-of-its-kind pilot program. The new Grocery Access Pilot (GAP) is a partnership between Instacart and Martha's Table. The goal is to make healthy eating easier and more affordable for low-income residents in Wards 7 and 8.

"We know a lot of what separates the health of our residents in the District is opportunity," Dr. Ayanna Bennett told WUSA9. "People don't necessarily have the opportunity to get the kinds of healthy foods and health activity that they need to get in order to keep chronic disease down and other health threats."

The initiative directly supports the District’s commitment to advancing food equity and health outcomes.
