SURF CITY, N.C. (WITN) - Both firefighters who were injured battling a Surf City fire are doing well, according to Surf City Fire Department.
The two firefighters were assisting a multi-home blaze that destroyed one home and damaged others on Saturday night.
One was evaluated by EMS at the scene and went back to help put out the flames. The other was taken to the hospital but has since been released and is doing well, according to Fire Marshal Jonathan Burton.
The fire was at the 1700 block of North Shore Drive, where one home was destroyed and three others were damaged.
“All my friends jumped up, and by the time we saw the fire, the house was completely engulfed,” Cody Burgess, who was renting a house across the street, told WITN.
