BOARDMAN TWP., Ohio - The Mahoning Valley Archeological Society will be hosting guest speaker Leon Briggs Sunday, October 26th to discuss local indigenous lives and how they interacted with colonial people of the Mahoning Valley.
Along with working as a speaker for the Red Bird Center , Leon also engages in the traditional arts of beading, quill and leatherwork. In addition, he teaches herbology,—specifically focused on the native uses of plants—is an ordained spiritual leader of American Metis Aborigional Association and works to support Native families of Ohio through cultural consulting, the society said.
The discussion, titled "When The Forest Was Alive. An indigenous look of life before and after colonization," is set to take place at Boardman Park's Beard Cabin from 2:00 p.m. to
