Most of us know when it’s time for an oil change, and that if we ignore it for too long the neglect will harm us and our environment.

I’ve come to realize that the same lessons about oil changes hold true for timely actions to maintain our souls and renew our convictions.

Wear and tear from a fast-paced world is taxing. We might pause momentarily. But the pressure to keep moving does not let up.

Similar pressure is on our human spirit. We need steps of maintenance to realize what inside is burned out and what remains nourishing and sustaining.
