Shiromani Akali Dal district leader Parvinder Singh Sohana has accused the Punjab government of showing “utter negligence and insensitivity” toward Sikh heritage monuments, alleging that the historic Fateh Minar at Chappar Chiri (Mohali) remains closed due to the government’s apathy.
Addressing reporters at the site, Sohana said that the monument built during the Shiromani Akali Dal government under the late chief minister Parkash Singh Badal at a cost of hundreds of crores of rupees was intended to connect future generations with the legacy of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur. “But today, this iconic memorial stands locked and deserted because of the failure and incompetence of the present Aam Aadmi Party government,” he said.
