JANESVILLE, Calif. (KOLO) - A pile burning operation will take place this week in Plumas National Forest near the top of Janesville Grade. Smoke may be visible along U.S. 395 between Susanville and Herlong Junction.
Crews will be burning about 493 acres of piles on the Bootsole Project starting Sunday. Work is expected to wrap up on Tuesday. The Bootsole Project is part of a fire fuel reduction program between the Dixie Fire and Beckwourth Complex burn scars.
Drivers are warned to be on the lookout for firefighting equipment in the area.
