Srinagar, Oct 26: After a four-year pause, the historic Darbar Move , the biannual shifting of Jammu and Kashmir’s seat of power between Srinagar and Jammu, is set to resume, marking the revival of a 150-year-old tradition that was halted in 2021.

The Chief Minister Omar Abdullah recently announced the restoration of the practice earlier this month, sparking a massive facelift and beautification drive across the winter capital. Civic bodies, local agencies, and workers have launched intensive cleanup and restoration campaigns to prepare the city for the arrival of government offices.

Officials said the Jammu and Kashmir government has directed all offices in Srinagar to close by October 31, paving the way for their reopening in Jammu next month. The move follows Abdulla
