Medical staff attend to New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo (44) after an injury on a play against the Philadelphia Eagles in the second quarter at Lincoln Financial Field

Fourth-round rookie Cam Skattebo was carted off on Sunday with an apparent season-ending ankle dislocation against the Philadelphia Eagles, likely ending his rookie season.

Skattebo scored a touchdown earlier, but his right foot got trapped with an Eagles player, twisting his leg and forcing him to the ground. He was taken off the field and sent to a nearby hospital for tests.

In his first season, Skattebo has already become one of the faces of the new-look New York Giants. His hard-hitting style between the sticks and his outgoing, humorous personality off the field have endeared him to local and leaguewide fans alike. Coming off a college playoff appearance with Arizona State last season, he’s kept up his relentless play since landing in New York City, totaling seven touchdowns in his rookie season.

Although outside of the playoff picture with a 2-5 record, optimism for the team’s future has been high, thanks to Skattebo and the rest of the youth movement on the Giants' roster. Skattebo has already made a quick connection and friendship with fellow 2025 draftee Jaxon Dart, who fell forlorn on the field following the injury to his favorite target in the second quarter.
