WEST VALLEY CITY — A man is dead after police say he fired shots into a group of people while driving by a Halloween party early Saturday morning in West Valley City. Somebody in the group then fired back.
The West Valley City Police Department said officers responded to reports of shots fired at 12:40 a.m. in the area of 4700 West and Palmer Drive.
Police said around two dozen teens and adults were attending a party, and a group of them was standing outside. Police said 18-year-old Allen Montelongo of Salt Lake City fire shots at the group while driving past. Then, officers said, someone fired back at Montelongo and hit him.
“ Montelongo crashed into a fence and was pronounced dead on scene,” police said.
