That’s when the Bulldogs found out they were in the spot no one wants to hold – the 33rd spot in in playoff points when only the top 32 get to advance.

“It doesn’t feel right,” Summerfield coach Dylan Szegedi said. “There is no finality.”

Szegedi thought his team would make the playoffs after beating Erie Mason in its season finale Friday to finish at 5-4. But Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart played a game on Saturday where it earned enough points to sneak past the Bulldogs.

“It goes that way sometimes,” Szegedi said. “I thought we were in. Everything I read said we were in.”

Summerfield also finished 33rd in 2022.
