JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KFVS) - The Missouri Coalition of Roadway Safety is working to prevent deadly traffic crashes with Buckle Up Phone Down Day on October 29.
The Coalition is challenging all drivers to wear seat belts and put down their devices when driving.
The annual campaign aims to have no traffic deaths on Missouri roads on that day.
It is illegal to hold or support a cell phone or electronic communication device while driving on Missouri roads.
The Coalition is also challenging individuals to sign a pledge to buckle up and put their phones down during each trip.
This is the 9th year for the challenge.
The Missouri Department of Transportation, the Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety, and other safety partners throughout the state are supporting the event.
