DOOR COUNTY (NBC 26) — Back in August, a storm system caused major damage in northern Door County uprooting trees and even stranding dozens on a Lake Michigan island.
Months later, some neighborhoods are still cleaning up. On Friday, we learned that federal funding requested by the governor has been denied.

On Friday, Governor Tony Evers said, in part.
“Denying federal assistance doesn’t just delay recovery it sends a message to our communities that they are on their own.”
The governor says he plans to appeal the decision, noting the funding would have covered more than $26.5 mi
