LYONS Ore. (KPTV) - Evacuations were made after lightning struck a power line and caused a gas leak Saturday night, according to the Stayton Fire District.
The strike occurred north of Lyons, in the community of Mehama.
Fire officials say that lightning struck a power line, rupturing a gas line and causing the leak.
One of the lines was directly connected to a home in the area, leading to evacuations.
Fire and power company officials were on scene well into the night Saturday addressing the situation.
Highways 22 and 226 were closed due to the incident, but have since reopened.
