The M6 motorway remains shut to traffic in both directions due to a crash tonight (Sunday, October 26).

Emergency services are at the scene in Lancashire, with both the northbound and southbound carriageways closed between Junction 27 and Junction 28, just north of Wigan .

The closures were first reported shortly before 10pm and are set to remain in place for several hours.
