BATON ROUGE, La. — LSU has fired football head coach Brian Kelly on Sunday evening.
According to reports, LSU administrators met for hours to decide what to do with Kelly and his $53 million buyout clause in his contract.
Saturday night felt like the end of an era, as the Tigers were embarrassed by the No. 3 Texas A&M Aggies 49-25 . That was Texas A&M's first win in Baton Rouge since 1994. The boos were loud and the "fire Kelly" chants were growing throughout the night.
Kelly finishes his time at LSU with a 34-14 overall record. The Tigers reached the SEC Title game in year 1 with BK, Quarterback Jayden Daniels won the Heisman in year 2, but could not reach the College Football Playoffs once.
His biggest issue was winning big games, as LSU was 5-11 against Top 10 opponents, including
