KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A historic Kansas City church designed by the legendary architect Frank Lloyd Wright is getting some much-needed repairs.
Community Christian Church, located on Main Street, will undergo critical repairs thanks to a $160,000 grant from the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
“It’s really exciting because people come from all over the country, and even the world, to see this,” said Jan Marcason, Board President of the nonprofit Wright on Main, which oversees the building’s preservation.
Built in 1940, the church is one of only eight Wright-designed churches in existence. Its modern, geometric design was considered groundbreaking at the time, but decades of wear and tear have taken their toll.
