The Corvallis school district is facing a budget shortfall of nearly four million dollars. To combat this, the district board plans to close Cheldelin Middle and Letitia Carson Elementary schools.
Concerned parents say this would lead to the relocation of nearly 900 students. Chris Blacker has two children who attend Letitia Carson Elementary, and he says the Corvallis School Board is failing to use the Oregon Parent Teacher Associations checklist on handling school closures.
“Right now, the process has just not presented a proposal that's going to work for us,” Blacker said. “This doesn't address the issues that we've brought to the board.
