A defunct Long Island supermarket is causing a big stink among locals after its owners allegedly tossed leftover food — inclusing raw meat and produce — in a dumpster out back, letting it sit rotting more than a week after the store’s closure.
The former owners of Frank’s Fairway in North Massapequa were issued violations from the Town of Oyster Bay after neighbors complained the stench of decaying food rising from the grocery store’s dumpsters was attracting animals.
“You can imagine the smell,” a neighbor told News 12 , pointing out that the dumpsters’ lids had even been left open. 3
Frank’s Fairway closed down on Oct. 13. After it shuttered, workers allegedly took whatever food was left inside and simply dropped it in the trash out back.
