Another Canadian Bowl appearance awaits the Saskatoon Hilltops, whose path to the national junior football championship looked totally roadblocked by their toughest rival, the Regina Thunder .
“At halftime, all our fifth-years, we told them, ‘This cannot be our last game!'” said Saskatoon’s Isaiah Vallderruten, a receiver and defensive back whose overtime touchdown catch gave the Hilltops a 30-27 comeback victory in the Prairie Football Conference championship game Sunday inside Regina’s Mosaic Stadium.
“We got to go to the championship! We got to go to practice Tuesday! This cannot be the last game.”
Saskatoon will play host to the Canadian Bowl on Nov. 9 against the Okanagan Sun. It will be Saskatoon’s 27th appearance in the championship game, having won its 23rd title in 2023.
