Two days out from the start of their five-match T20I series with world champions, Australia have been forced to announce a replacement player after star spinner Adam Zampa made himself unavailable. Zampa’s wife Harriet is expecting their second child and the leggie will miss the start of the series with Tanveer Sangha added to the T20I squad.

Zampa, who is the leading wicket-taker for Australia in T20Is, also missed the first ODI of a three-match series against India earlier this month but featured in the next two matches as the world champions won 2-1.

The 23-year-old Sangha has played seven T20Is for Australia – all between August and December of 2023 with the last of those against India in Bengaluru. He took an impressive 4/31 on his T20I debut against South A
