In the Texas-based Lone Star Conference, it’s the two football teams from the Pacific Northwest leading the way.

Central Washington and Western Oregon, who joined the NCAA Division-II conference last year, each extended their win streaks on Saturday.

Central Washington (7-1) improved to 6-0 in conference play with a 56-13 win over Midwestern State in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Western Oregon (6-2, 5-1) won its fourth consecutive game with a 34-27 road win over Texas A&M-Kingsville.

With six teams in Texas and two in New Mexico, joining the Lone Star Conference has meant plenty of long road trips for players from Clark County. Central Washington and Western Oregon are common destinations for local players to continue their football careers.
